Model No. 408: Gulf Turquoise
The Pontiac Firebird was introduced by Pontiac Motor Division on February 23, 1967. It could be purchased as a coupe or convertible. Five basic engines were available: two overhead cam six cylinders, two 326 V8's, and one 400 V8. Pontiac promoted the Firebirds as the Magnificent Five. All 1967 Firebirds were available with standard and custom interior trim options. An inflatable space-saver spare tire was standard in all 1967 Firebirds. Magazine editors road tested several of the 1967 Firebirds when they were first released. One well known magazine tested a 400 convertible with automatic transmission and a 3.08 axle. Performance was charted 15.4 seconds and 92 miles per hour for the quarter mile.
