Model No. 410: Tyrol Blue

An Exact Detail Exclusive - Each of these replicas has been personally signed by Linda Vaughn!

Being plucked out of the dangerous and swampy underbrush of Viet Nam and flown thousands of miles to Daytona, Florida for a date with Miss Hurst, Linda Vaughn was very likely a dream of many a young soldier. For one lucky G.I., it was a dream that became a reality.

ADJ3 Leonard Hobbs, a resident of Fort Worth, Texas, was named the Grand Prize winner in one of Hurst Performance's most famous promotions, conducted in conjunction with The Defenders, Hurst Armed Forces Club and the Hurst Performance Report. The prize: a chance to drive a brand new, not yet introduced 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible for the week leading up to the Daytona 500, and use it for a date with Linda Vaughn.

As it turned out, Hurst Performance got an unexpected chance to show what good sports they were when, to their surprise, they learned that Hobbs was married. The offer of the "date" was extended to Mrs. Hobbs as well and, after she was flown in from California, the threesome embarked on an evening to remember, after dining with NASCAR drivers and officials.

The Tyrol Blue 1967 Firebird convertible had a black interior and was equipped with the torquey 400 cubic inch V8 coupled to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission and a limited slip rear end. The car rode on special Hurst spoked mag wheels and red line tires. The body was adorned with graphics depicting the distinctive Hurst Armed Forces Club logo and banners proclaiming the winner of the "Date at Daytona 500" contest.

Linda Vaughn went on to join the U.S.O. circuit as the new Hurst Golden Shifter Girl, becoming an institution in motorsports that is still as strong today as it was back then.
