The 1967 Shelby GT350 was a transitional car, bridging the gap between the no-nonsense 1965 GT350 and the luxurious boulevard cruisers that would follow. This beauty employed heavy duty suspension and shocks, fiberglass body panels, and a functional roll bar welded to the floor pan and bolted to the inner roof brackets. The shoulder harnesses fitted to the roll bar were patterned after those used in the F-4 Phantom jet fighters. Interior color choices were mainly black or light tan, with a few white ones offered later on. The steel standard wheels featured Shelby emblems on the covers, but both "Mag Star" (steel rims with aluminum centers) and 10-spoke (cast aluminum) styles were popular options. All wheels were 15" diameter by 7" wide, with a standard tire size of E70x15. The worthy engine offered was a 289 cubic inch, solid lifter V8 with a Cobra high-rise aluminum intake and a 715 CFM Holley carburetor with vacuum secondaries. Despite the cast iron Hi-Po manifolds connected to dual exhausts it was still rated at 306 horsepower. The package was topped off by finned, crinkle-finish "COBRA" valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. Buyers could choose between automatic and 4-speed manual top loader transmissions. Model features include: Diecast body and sub-frame, fully opening body panels, photo-etched grille with in-board high beams, fully plumbed and wired, highly-detailed engine, Shelby 10-spoke aluminum wheels, functional steering, carpeted interior, folding, cushioned seats, detailed headliner, nylon fabric seatbelts, shoulder harnesses, rubber tires with accurate tread patterns, rotating driveshaft, steel fuel lines, and emergency brake cable.
